Dawn Walks in Ireland and Northern Ireland

Dawn walks are early morning walks we take when working away from home. We ramble around the streets of a new town, village or parish before we head out to work. For the next while we will bring a small camera and microphone with us to record the sights and sounds of the places we visit.

Croghan, Co. Roscommon. Our Townlands, Our History!

A community heritage survey and mapping project devised by Patricia Keane of Dacklin and involving the students of Croghan NS, 6th class in May & June 2018 along with their teacher Gary Kelleher.

 

Lombardstown & the Revolutionary Generation

This community-led survey of the old homes, homesteads and families of Lombardstown traces the key places of the Revolutionary generation. One hundred years ago the women and men of North Cork rode the tides of global history and a revolution happened one event at a time.

 

Travelling Tullylease

The name Tullylease is over 1000 years old and the settlement associated with Saint Ben or St. Berrihert is older than that. This community-led survey of the older houses of the parish was funded by the Dept. of Taoiseach in 1916 and was organised by IRD Duhallow.

This project is a community-led survey of the historic homesteads of Dunkerrin in Offaly.

 

Bournea through time

This project is a community-led survey of the historic homesteads of Bournea barony in North Tipperary. It has been part-funded by the Dept of the Taoiseach, Local Diaspora Fund in 2015.

 

Explore Kilrush

A key coastal town of south county Clare.

The historic houses of Kilrush parish are being recorded by the local community as part of a project supported by the Department of the Taoiseach, Local Diaspora Fund 2015.

Deep in the Drum Hills, between Youghal and Dungarvan, Knockatoor townland sits on the southside of Carronadavderg.
