RIC Barracks Ahadallane

RIC Barracks Ahadallane

These were situated just across the parish boundary in Ahadallane townland which is in Donoughmore parish. Following the roundups after the 1916 Rising the RIC clamped down on large congregations of people and policemen from these barracks arrived at a Feis in Bweeng village to confiscate the tricolour but the locals thwarted this as the flag was flown from a kite and the police were told they had no jurisdiction as they were outside their area. The local Glantane police arrived and common sense prevailed. The barracks were turned into a normal dwelling after the truce .The McCarthy family occupied the premises after the truce and these were followed by the Crowley family.
