Site of Old Forge, Glantane

This was leased by the O Flynn family from Delacour and Cotter in Griffiths Valuation, they married two Lombard sisters in 1820 and inherited the Lombard Estate. The Lyons family had the lease in 1870 and in c.1900 Jeremiah Coleman was leasing the forge from Michael Noonan who was sub-letting it from the Lombard descendants. The Colemans lived there in a small dwelling and in c.1933 purchased the old protestant school (Muphys Home, Glantane). The forge continued in existence for a number of years.
