Murphy's House

The previous owners were the Coleman Family (See headstone CO-GLSJ-0091 Glantane in www.historicgraves.com) and they had a distant connection with Archbishop Croke. This building started life in 1822 as a protestant school which was built on about 6 acres of land provided by the descendants of the Lombard landlords of Lombardstown to the Kilshannig Protestant Church body. The building had accommodation for the teacher and family. The following  were residing teachers, Joseph Beamish c1860’s, William McCarthy 1870’s, Joshua Beamish 1880’s, Thomas Blackbourne and John Slater (See headstone CO-KSNG-0257 Newberry/Kilshannig in www.historicgraves.com)  in the 1880-1895’s, Samuel H.Harman 1910, Richard Bolster and Deborah Sutton later. Jeremiah Coleman purchased the property in c.1933 and the Murphy family now occupy the property and added major extensions.
