Finnegans House, Glantane

Finnegans House, Glantane

This house is probably about 200 years old and is a fine example of an executive style thatch residence and was restored about 10 years ago. The house was a meeting place for units of the Lombardstown Volunteers and was used as a dispatch depot for sending and receiving mail with frequent visits from Liam Lynch. The Gardiner family occupied the building in the mid 1800’s. It was occupied then by the Buckley family and one of these was also a volunteer.  In later refurbishments some Volunteer telegrams were found hidden in the roof.
