Groups audience:
Previously the site of a 1.5 storey thatched mansion which was replaced in the 1960s. The thatched mansion had a central main door with 2 windows on the left-hand side which represented a dining room and 2 bedrooms. This house was used by the IRA during the Irish War of Independence and the subsequent Civil War. Owen O'Sullivan tells the story of his uncle, as a boy, bringing breakfast to the IRA men one morning and when he entered the dining room he saw that they were counting piles of money. It was thought the moneys were connected to the complex case of the Millstreet Bank robbery where local thieves were tracked down arrested by 'Republican Police' (http://www.millstreet.ie/blog/2016/09/06/the-millstreet-bank-robbery).
