Walking to the Guinness Storehouse

Presuming you are starting near Christchurch, or outside Jury's Inn, follow the flow of traffic heading west. You will see lots of people with maps and their smartphones out figuring out how to get to the Guinness Storehouse.  This video will help you get there - but remember, you will be walking through some of the oldest city streets in Ireland - so enjoy the journey, as well as the destination.

Early in the walk you will see the grand pair of St Audoen's Catholic Church & the adjacent medieval St Audoen's.
Thereafter will soon come to Cornmarket Street (the big traffic junction) and as you arrive onto Thomas Street you will be passing outside the old medieval city. You are now in Thomas Street which has teemed with life for over a 1000 years. Mind the traffic, obey the lights but soak in the atmosphere of the hustle of the stall holders or go into the various shops and browse or buy.
The next church you will see after the two St. Audoen's is the church with two saints - Saint Augustines and St John the Baptists - designed by Edward Welby and opened in 1874 it was described as 'a poem in stone' by Ruskin the art critic.

As you head for a pint of Guinness you will pass the former Power's Distillery, founded in 1791, now occuppied by the National Council of Art & Design, although the beautiful street front buildings are from the 1870s. Power's Distillery was amalgamated into the Irish Distillers Group in 1966.

Then keep going west until you come to Crane St or Echlin Street - both of which will bring you to the Guinness Storehouse. Music by the amazing Torcán.
