P7 Anglesea St., Clonmel

Groups audience:

In 1911 this house was occupied by two families.

Margaret Downes a widowed housekeeper, originally from Kilkenny, lived in the first part of the house.

George & Margaret Haslam lived in the second apartment. George was an army officer, a Captain on the Infantry Active List, presumably stationed in the adjacent Victoria Barracks on Davis St. In 1911 this was the regimental depot for the Royal Irish Regiment. George was born in China while Margaret hailed from Canada originally.
